Portrait bust of Wallace donated to Linnean Society

A life-size bust of Alfred Russel Wallace has been donated by the sculptor Jane Robbins to the Linnean Society of London, where it has been put on display in the library. Jane Robbins writes "It is cast in bronze jesmonite (a bronze effect strong resin/plaster and stands on a granite plinth and is life size. I was inspired to sculpt him as an old man after seeing the Victorian photo of him on The Wallace Fund website. As a traditionally trained sculptor, I have always been inspired by 18th and 19th century sculpted busts that seem to capture good likenesses and character of the man or woman being depicted."
